Tuition fees

Finnish universities do not charge tuition fees for EU students. For Master’s students you will have to pay €102 to join the student union but as this includes access to the university’s health service it is excellent value for money.

Loans, Grants and Scholarships

There is no national student loan or grant available to international students for the simple reason that there are no tuition fees for Master’s degrees. The Finnish government is already providing free higher education and therefore is no need for it to provide further assistance. This naturally means that you will have to finance your living costs on your own but the overall cost of your studies will be lower than in many other countries.

Some individual Finnish universities may offer a small amount of institutional scholarships of their own for their international Master's students. As an example you can find information about University of Helsinki’s grants for international students here:
